This tasty cupcake recipe is made appropriately scary by the addition of gummy worms – great for Halloween party food!
What You Need:
- 1 1/4 C of water
- 1/3 C of canola or coconut oil
- 3 eggs
- 1 (18.25 oz.) box yellow cake mix with pudding
- 3/4 C ready to spread chocolate frosting
- 24 gummy worms
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. Place paper cupcake liners into the cups on a muffin tin.
3. Pour the water into a mixing bowl.
4. Whisk the canola oil into the water.
5. Add the eggs and whisk until the mixture is well combined.
6. Add the cake mix powder and stir until it is thoroughly blended.
7. Fill the paper liners with the batter until they’re 2/3 full.
8. Bake for 22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cupcakes comes out clean.
9. Remove the cupcakes and allow to cool on wire rack 20 minutes.
10. Using a wooden spoon handle, create a hole in the center of each cupcake about as wide as a penny.
11. Place the frosting into an icing bag or use a plastic bag with one corner snipped off.
12. Squeeze the frosting into the holes in the cupcakes, while allowing a small amount to spread onto the top of the cupcake.
13. Press a gummy worm into the frosting hole of each cupcake, leaving a portion of the worm to hang over the edge of the cupcakes.
These cupcakes will be a hit with kids, and can be used as party food or wrapped in decorative Halloween plastic wrap to give as treats.
