These tasty scarecrow biscuits make a great snack that’s perfect for any Halloween event!
What You Need:
- 1 (18 oz.) pkg. refrigerated sugar cookie dough
- 1 C of flaked coconut
- Yellow, orange, red and blue food coloring
- 18 gum drop fruit slices
- 1 C of powdered sugar, divided
- 1 T of milk, divided
- Mini chocolate chips
Ingredients:
1. Roll out the cookie dough on a flat surface.
2. Cut out 18 shapes using a gingerbread man cutter.
3. Place the cutouts onto a baking sheet, and bake following the directions on the package.
4. Remove the cookies place on a wire rack, allowing them to cool to room temperature.
5. Place the coconut into a bowl.
6. Add enough yellow food coloring to make the coconut straw-colored.
7. Make scarecrow hats by placing the gum drops on a lightly sugared surface, and rolling them out flat.
8. Cut hat shapes out of each gum drop.
9. Divide the powdered sugar between three mixing bowls.
10. Place 2 – 3 drops of the orange, red and blue food coloring into each separate bowl.
11. Add the milk to each bowl and stir to form a paste. If necessary, add more milk until the frosting achieves the desired consistency.
12. When the cookies have cooled, place the orange frosting on the heads, hand and feet of each cookie.
13. Press the tinted coconut into the frosting on the head, hands and feet areas.
Use the blue and red frosting to create a shirt for each scarecrow.
14. Place the hats onto the scarecrows’ head’ by placing a little orange frosting on the back of the hat and pressing down onto the cookie.
15. Place 2 – 3 of mini chocolate chips onto the front of the scarecrows’ shirts, to create buttons.
Scarecrows are a popular Halloween motif, and these yummy cookies are unlikely to last long, so you might want to make a second batch to ensure there’s enough to go around.
