3 Easy Halloween Tree Decorating Ideas That Won’t Break The Bank

Did you think that trees are only decorated at Christmas? Think again! Halloween is another great opportunity for having fun with tree decorations. While Halloween trees aren’t as popular as Christmas trees, this means they’re a great way to make your Halloween décor really stand out, since not everyone will be doing this.

You can buy specially made Halloween trees that are already decorated, or you can dress up your existing trees, which is cheaper. Let’s take a look at some simple decorating ideas for Halloween trees that don’t cost a lot, but still look great.

1. Get some mini orange pumpkin lights

Just like Christmas lights, you can get strings of Halloween lights, and orange lights that are shaped like pumpkins are among the most widely available. You can buy them from most stores that sell Halloween paraphernalia, as well as online (where you’ll normally find the best prices. These lights look stunning when strung in your trees and bushes. Just be sure that the lights you buy are suitable for outdoor use, unless you’re using them on a small indoor tree.

2. Make (or buy) some spooky creatures for tree decorations

Halloween wouldn’t be Halloween without the array of ghosts, ghouls, monsters and scary animals and other creatures that are so popular at this time of year. Halloween props of this type make great tree decorations, and can be bought from any website or store selling Halloween supplies – see some here. Halloween tree

And of course if you (or your kids) are feeling creative, you can make your own, whether you opt for simple cut out shapes, or make more complex figurines out of papier mache etc. As well as being fun, making your own Halloween tree decorations will also save you some money!

Some of the characters you might want to hang from the branches of your Halloween tree include witches, scarecrows, goblins, ghosts, zombies, black cats, bats, spiders, skeletons, skulls and vampires. If you’re feeling particularly ghoulish, a large scarecrow or other human figure hanging in the branches from a noose can be very effective!

3. Make paper ghost tree decorations

Paper ghosts are an old Halloween favorite, although they’re less common these days than they used to be. But they are both simple and effective, and make a great addition to your Halloween tree, so long as you make the ghost big enough to be easily visible from the ground. Try making the ghost from large sheets of tissue paper, and stuffing the head with something light such as cotton wool balls. Tie a cord around the neck, draw on eyes and maybe a mouth, and you’re done!

If you make the cord long enough, you can place the ghost high in the tree, and someone can move it around from the ground by pulling on the cord. This will be even more effective if you have outdoor Halloween lighting in your yard – try training a light in the direction of the tree, so your ghost and other spooky figures will be illuminated to great effect as night falls.

A Halloween tree can make a great addition to your Halloween decorations, so if you’re fortunate enough to have trees on your property, make good use of them this Halloween!
